  • Are you affected by ‘moobs’ and ‘double chins’…?

Posted by admin on December 30th, 2009 and filed under accountancy service | 8 Comments »

High-flying men are queueing up to splash out on expensive plastic surgery in spite of the recession, surgeons say.

The Harley Medical Group says the number of males going under the knife to get rid of double chins and "moobs" has jumped by more than a quarter in the last 12 months.

It said city workers, civil servants and men working in politics, law and accountancy were most likely to use its services.

Operations to reduce flabby breasts – dubbed "moobs", an abbreviation of "man boobs" – are among those most in demand.

Surgeons saw a 61% increase in requests for the operation, which costs more than £4,000.

Mini-facelifts to remove jowls, costing nearly £5,000, saw a 96% increase in popularity.

However, demand for blepharoplasty, an operation to remove eye bags, was down by 16%.

Riccardo Frati, a surgeon with the group, said: "The bad diets, punishing hours and stress that often go hand in hand with these types of professions make men prime candidates for premature ageing.

"We’re not surprised to see a trend emerge for professions most likely to opt for surgery as the side-effects of a punishing job can cause the loss of skin elasticity and encourage build-up of stubborn fat in key areas."

More than 1,500 patients were questioned for the survey.

What qualifications do i need to become an accountant?

Posted by admin on December 30th, 2009 and filed under accountant service | 5 Comments »

Im guessing i will have to go to uni, but what will i need to get me there? I got good GCSE grades but never did my A levels. Although i do have a nvq level2 in business admin & nqv level3 in customer service, also level2 ECDL. I know to get into uni it goes on a point system, will the qualifications i have get me in or will i have to do my A levels?
Also, I work with Sage and do the purchase and sales ledger for the company i work for… Is there some way I could train through work instead of going to uni?

There are two ways to become an accountant either though training or though an accounts degree.

Your first step would be to do an accountant techcians course such as CAT. Then you can either do a degree and be a qualified but not a chartered accountant or do the ACCA or CIMA.

i have finished the irish version of the accounting technicans course and it took me 2 years to complete the exams and i am currently working my way towards the required 2 years work experience before i can become a member. The techicans exams allow you to skip the first year of any accountancy degree and the professional exams. Definately worth doing.

Is Yahoo! Local Listing and Yahoo! Small Business Services the same thing?

Posted by admin on December 30th, 2009 and filed under small business accounting services | 2 Comments »

I recently downloaded Yahoo! Site Builder and created a web site. When I tried publishing I received repeated errors about probs. I checked everything that was suggested and tried the following a.m. and then received a message saying that I exceeded my log in attempts and when I tried to contact Yahoo! I was told that there was no SBS account associated with my user name.(?)

I have a Yahoo! local listing. My ID appears on everything Yahoo! that I log in to. I even receive the "Welcome username" when I am at the Small Business Services site

What do I need to do to correct this?

    Not really.

How can a merger of two major accounting firms affect the financial services sector?

Posted by admin on December 30th, 2009 and filed under accounting services | 1 Comment »

how can it be linked ?

hello – which two major firms? if you mean PwC, D&T, EY, KPMG then it can affect the financial services area in a number of ways. Most major financial firms use one of those for their accounting, another for their tax reporting, and perhaps a third for consulting. So if those four become three then the banks will have fewer choices, and may also need to use other providers to prevent conflicts of interest. It could be great for some of the second tier firms, give them more access to the bigger banking clients.

    hope that helps -

Good college for accounting or business?

Posted by admin on December 28th, 2009 and filed under business accounting services | 2 Comments »

I’m currently a junior and looking for some colleges to look at. What are some good colleges or universities for accounting, business, or any other related services? It would help if you posted links as well as post your experiences with the jobs in these kinds of field.
P.S. I’m looking for a college perhaps that is within C.A. or on the west coast.
I need more details and names of the school at least.

"Within C.A." ??? What is that supposed to be?

"West Coast" is intelligible. Any of the CSUs and all the UCs are excellent for an undergraduate business related major.

Stanford, UCLA, and UC-Berkeley have the strongest graduate business schools.
