  • Are the exams of Chartered Accountants of India equivalent of Post graduation ?

Posted by admin on November 27th, 2009 and filed under accountants services | 4 Comments »

Post graduation in echonomics is qualifying criteria for priliminery exams of Indian Echonomic services, Are the exams of Chartered Accountants of India equivalent of Post graduation ?

It depends upon university to university.

If you see the content and knowldege acquired in CA then it is far more than other post graduate degrees like MSc MCom MA etc. However, MBA is somewhat equivalent to CA in terms of content.

So it depends upon which unviersity you are approaching.

I would doubt because its a professional degree and cant be linked to a university level qualification eg post graduation – two different things; until and unless you have asked for exemptions and then it depends on the university you approach to.
However, I believe CA from India would be considered all over the world as a recognised qualification in accounts and would be well in demand especially after the implication of International standards – because eg in the UK people weren’t used to study IASs or ISAs.

Both CA and post graduation are two different fields.
You can’t compare CA with any post graduation as its much harder.
By doing CA you can get exemptions from many universities for MBA and post graduation depending on their contract with ICAI.
