The things that should be socialized are things that you don’t have a choice in………the things you must have.

A history I read summed up by saying that history is driven by stupidity and greed. "Elites" will exploit, their rapacious nature can only increase – as they lose popularity , they have to bribe ever more supporters and coerce greater payment from the peasants, until the system collapses.

I think it mostly depends on how stupid and greedy the citizens are. If they believe politicians will deliver services better than someone who is rewarded based on what people are willing to pay in a free market, then they are stupid enough to elect democrats.

If they are greedy enough that they are willing to divert resources from productive uses to nonproductive, as long as it benefits them in some way , then they are greedy enough to elect democrats.

Republicans are disappointing, but they have to compete against democrats, who are disastrous.

Government should do ONLY what Only government can do. (eg, national defense.) Just follow that rule and you have the answer.

well I have a belief that corner markets(markets that effect every thing) need to be stable and cheap to the mass. So if that means socializing so be it, but it does not have to be

NEWS FLASH: Public services are NOT Socialism.

Why? Because the true purpose of Socialism is to redistribute income & wealth. The purpose of a public service is NOT to redistribute income & wealth.

Of course , many Socialists will deny this.

It should be the voters at the state and local levels. There is no need nor constitutional mandate for most of the federal programs that are in place right now.
