Jump in and beat this! Win The Passionate Accountant Contest!.Submit your video response by 3/30 www.thepassionateaccountant.com is changing perceptions of the accounting profession. This “bad rap” is a play on both the stereotype accountants fight against as well as Edi Osborne’s rapping skills. Making no apologies, she tells it like it is for today’s business owner who needs someone in their corner.
This is a challenge to accounting firms, students, classes, business owners, etc. to come up with their own message to share with the business community as part of the Passionate Accountants’ Contest.
Osborne welcomes any and all who want to take her boring version on and do it right ! You would be doing a great service to help the economic recovery and spare us from this version.

This short adverting spot was created to help people see how the Crunch system can help them and their business.
Crunch is an online accounting system for UK freelancers, contractors and independent consultants. If you run a small business you might already know how much hassle invoicing, expenses and filling tax forms can be.
Crunch is designed to put you in control and give you the confidence that a fully qualified chartered accountant will prepare all your end of year paperwork for you… that includes all forms, returns and (if you are registered) all your VAT returns throughout the year.
See the tour for more on how Crunch works.

I am about to hire an in-home nurse to help with the care of my mother. As I understand it, I (and/or my mom) will be the nurse’s employer, so I’ll need to have the paycheck/taxes issue taken care of.
Friends have suggested using an accountant, a pay service, or pay software. If anyone has had any experience with this, please let me know which option you would recommend.
Thanks for any input.
Use a company that provides nurses and they take care of it.
If you don’t have such a company in your area, enter into a contractual agreement with the nurse. This way, the nurse (aka the contractor) is paid a flat fee and deals with the taxes themselves.
Question: Brett, I have started up a small business. I purchased a manually operated printing press from overseas last year. It is operated by one person. I take the printing press to client’s premises and I custom-make their business cards on the spot.
I make a lot of money. My new accountant put her head in her hands and said, “this is a PSI nightmare”. Then she spouted off a bunch of tax stuff. It seems that the main issue is that I have one major client.
What exactly is ‘PSI’? Is it too late to sort things out?
Answer:
Don’t be disillusioned. The PSI (”Personal Services Income”) rules are difficult to understand at first. However, soon you’ll find them incomprehensible. Perhaps the Labor Government will help small business and cut the red tape (just joking).
The PSI rules are meant to extract tax out of independent contractors at the same rate as employees – even if they’re using a company or family trust (or some other business structure). In effect if the money you make is from the sweat of your brow then you have to pay tax on 100% of the money your company makes. As you only have one employee (we may be able to help you get more) and one main client, your accountant is correct, you have a problem.
However, all is not lost. For our Platinum Members, our PSI lawyer, Phil Simmonite, explains how PSI works and how to structure your affairs to comply with the rules.

Unless you have a lot of inventory and tangible assets such as an office building, cars, etc, you’ll have to value the business based on cash flow. Your hard assets in this case are the contracts. Janitorial contracts are worth between 5 and 8 times their monthly value, so one way you can come up with a quick number is to add up the monthly revenue of your contracts and multiply by 5 ( or up to 8). Now, this last number depends on your area. To find out, call a large franchise in your area such as Coverall and tell them you have an account for sale and how much they are willing to pay.
Need help from an accountant
I know what a PSA is, what I don’t know is weather or not a for profit corporation can write off the expenses to produce the spots
PSA’s are generally in support of a public good being promoted by government, charitable organizations or not-for-profit corporations.
They are tax deductions for the broadcasters which air them free of charge.
The cost of producing them and getting them aired would be deductible for the non-profits they benefit.
Obviously, a for-profit corporation could write off any costs it incurred producing the spots.
i mean the qualification ,terms of service and all the things i need to know about them
in the US, you just need to pass the CPA exam. most accountants have a four year degree in with a BBA in Accounting.
